no country for old men

went and saw it last night at camelot. watched the people arrive with their lovely little knitted blankets, their oh so stylish casual attire, their cheery optimism about being out and about on a stinking hot day. oops …. wasn’t our middle class worlds a trifle shattered after that movie!

i’ve just finished reading the cormack mcarthy novel, all the pretty horses.  fantastic book – he is a genius with language. i wonder if tim winton has picked up a tip or two from him – both authors really use the landscape to create a tableau for exploring the heavy issues about what it means to be a human.

there is good, there is evil and we are in between walking that road.

read the book.

watch the movie.

  1. just watched no country for old men, it was unassumingly unconventional yet (thankfully) it’s never over-the-top. the Coen bros. deserve to get Best Picture for their work, well done indeed.
